Datoteka:Hot springs of Pamukkale.JPG

For tourists, Pamukkale is well know as Cotton Castle, which is a natural site and it is located in Denizli Province in southwestern Turkey. The city contains hot springs and travertines (a form of limestone deposited by mineral springs), terraces of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water. It is located in Turkey's Inner Aegean region, in the River Menderes valley, which has a temperate climate for most of the year.
Turism has been a mayor industry, which includes Pamukkale, were people have bathed in its pools for thousands of years. In early 20th century, when the hotels were built over the ruins, it caused considerable damage. When the areas was declared a World Heritage Site, the hotels were demolished and replaced with artificial pools. Shoes are not permitted in the pools.
